Increased Turkish Participation Confirms Bias As Leading Military Showcase

On May 9, 2o17 at IDEF ‘17 Fair, organisers of the Bahrain International Airshow [BIAS] confirmed more Turkish participation at the show which will take place from 14-16 November 2018.  Regular participants Otokar, Roketsan and TAI [Turkish Aerospace Industries] have all confirmed that they will be returning to the show whilst the Undersecretariat for Defence Industries [SSM] have also given their support and will be encouraging other Turkish Defence Industry businesses to exhibit in a dedicated Turkish Pavilion.

Yousif MAHMOUD, Head of the Bahrain International Airshow, has attended IDEF ‘17 to finalise the agreements which would not only reaffirm BIAS’s status as a leading military showcase but also as the fastest growing airshow in the Middle East.

Speaking at the event, MAHMOUD said, “By hosting the show at the Sakhir Airbase, we are able to demonstrate just about any type of Aircraft. In 2016, TAI demonstrated its T129 ATAK Advance Attack and Tactical Reconnaissance Helicopter to an audience of high level executives and senior government officials including including senior members of the Royal Family and the Government of Bahrain.

The Bahrain International Airshow’s delegations programme is also a key selling point for participants of the show. When Roketsan attended the show in 2016 they met delegations from various countries including Azerbaijan’s and Pakistan’s Commander of the Air Force.

Amanda STAINER, Commercial Director for Farnborough International which supports Bahrain’s Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications in organising the show added, “With the Manama Air Power Symposium taking place the day before, the show’s profile as a leading business networking event has increased dramatically. Senior government officials and industry figures from GCC and around the world attend both events and often participate in our delegations programmes. In 2016, the event saw 33 military delegations from 19 countries visiting the show.”

At the close of the 2016 show, organisers confirmed that it had experienced its most successful event to date. The total value of orders reached US$9 Billion with more than 139 international participating companies.  Networking and face-to-face meetings are once again at the top of the agenda in planning the 2018 show. Alongside the conference programme and Hosted-Buyer programme, BIAS18 will also introduce an on-floor presentation theatre allowing exhibitors to run product demonstrations, seminars and workshops. The Manama Air Power Symposium is also confirmed to take place on 13th November 2018, and which is being organised by SEGMA and supported by the Royal Bahraini Air Force and the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications.
